His Excellency, The Most Reverend Salvatore R. Matano,

NINTH BISHOP OF BURLINGTON

DECREE OF SUPPRESSION
Our Lady of Fatima Parish
Craftsbury, Vermont

For over fifty years the Catholic Faithful have been served by Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Craftsbury, Vermont. During that time many people have heard the Word of God, have worshiped and received the sacraments of the Church in that parish. In an effort to reorganize and revitalize the People of God in this portion of the Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Burlington, it seemed necessary to make new provisions for the spiritual care of the parishioners of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Craftsbury, Vermont.

Accordingly, the Presbyteral Council was heard in conformity with canon 515, §2 of the Code of Canon Law on August 25, 2009, and determined that Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Craftsbury, Vermont, be suppressed. The parishioners, also having been consulted and having given their support, are committed to working in concert with their parish priest and neighboring parishioners in the newly erected Mary Queen of All Saints Parish, Hardwick, Vermont, to continue the work of the Church and the proclamation of the Gospel.

Since Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Craftsbury, Vermont, will be suppressed, the goods and obligations of Our Lady of Fatima Parish belong to Mary Queen of All Saints Parish, Hardwick, Vermont.

This decree becomes effective at 12:00 Midnight, September 8, 2009, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Given at Burlington, Vermont, this twenty-eighth day of August, in the year of Our Lord two thousand and nine, the Feast of St. Augustine.

The Most Reverend Salvatore R. Matano
Bishop of Burlington

The Reverend Monsignor John J. McDermott
Vicar General and Chancellor

DECREE OF ERECTION
Mary Queen of All Saints Parish
Hardwick, Vermont

For nearly one hundred years the Catholic Faithful of Hardwick, Vermont, have been served by St. Norbert Parish, and for over fifty years the Catholic Faithful of Greensboro Bend, Vermont, have been served by St. Michael Parish, and for over fifty years the Catholic Faithful of Craftsbury, Vermont, have been served by Our Lady of Fatima Parish. During that time many people have heard the Word of God, have worshipped and received the sacraments of the Church in these three parishes. In an effort to reorganize and revitalize the People of God in this portion of the Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Burlington, it seemed necessary to make new provisions for the spiritual care of the parishioners of St. Norbert Parish, St. Michael Parish and Our Lady of Fatima Parish.

Accordingly, the Presbyteral Council was heard in accord with canon 515, §2 of the Code of Canon Law on August 25, 2009, and determined that St. Norbert Parish, St. Michael Parish and Our Lady of Fatima Parish be suppressed and that Mary Queen of All Saints Parish encompassing the territory previously entrusted to St. Norbert Parish, St. Michael Parish and Our Lady of Fatima Parish, be erected for the pastoral care of Catholics in this portion of Vermont. The parishioners, also having been consulted and having given their support, agree to work in concert with their pastor and neighboring parishioners as a single parish. Therefore, I hereby erect Mary Queen of All Saints Parish, Hardwick, Vermont. This erection shall be effective at 12:01 A.M., September 8, 2009, the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The parishioners of St. Norbert Parish, St. Michael Parish and Our Lady of Fatima Parish continue as members of Mary Queen of All Saints Parish, Hardwick, Vermont.

All registers containing records of baptism, confirmation, marriage and burials hitherto preserved by St. Norbert Parish, St. Michael Parish and Our Lady of Fatima Parish are conveyed to Mary Queen of All Saints Parish, Hardwick, Vermont, and will be faithfully preserved according to canon 535, paragraphs 1-5, of the Code of Canon Law at Mary Queen of All Saints Parish, Hardwick, Vermont. However, the church buildings shall retain their patronal names, namely, St. Norbert and St. Michael and Our Lady of Fatima.

Since St. Norbert Parish, St. Michael Parish and Our Lady of Fatima Parish will be suppressed, the goods and obligations of St. Norbert Parish, St. Michael Parish and
Our Lady of Fatima Parish will belong to Mary Queen of All Saints Parish, 193 South Main Street, P.O. Box 496, Hardwick, Vermont.

Given at Burlington, Vermont, this twenty-eighth day of August in the year of Our Lord two thousand and nine, the Feast of St. Augustine.
